Dr. Herwig Frei

passed away on September 7, 2020.

Dr. Herwig Frei was an important part of our law firm, both as a lawyer and as a person. Not only did he possess a high level of professional competence, but he also stood out for his exceptional humanity, social skills, and innate empathy. We have lost a very special friend. His death is a heavy loss and leaves a huge void.

Dr. Herwig Frei joined our law firm as a trainee lawyer in 1993 and, after successfully passing the bar exam, became a partner in the law firm Greiter Pegger Kofler & Partner in 1996. His commitment and tireless dedication to our clients contributed significantly to their positive development during the 27 years he was part of our community.

The legal profession always held a “peculiar attraction” for him, to use his own words and his very special sense of humor. He was passionate about engaging with legal issues, with a particular focus on labor law and public law. He was always clear, precise, and reliable in his legal assessments and strove to find pragmatic and economically sensible solutions for our clients. This attitude earned him widespread recognition, appreciation, and praise.

For the employees and partners of our law firm, Dr. Herwig Frei was always the calming influence that a community of our size needs to maintain harmony and balance. We all thank him for his helpfulness and the social commitment he always showed to each and every one of us.

Our partner Dr. Herwig Frei was also particularly keen to pass on his experience and knowledge to young people. After completing his studies at Leopold Franzens University in Innsbruck, he not only worked there as a university assistant, but also regularly gave lectures and seminars at the University of Innsbruck and at universities of applied sciences, in particular at MCI, the Management Center Innsbruck, with great enthusiasm during his time as a lawyer. He was very popular with his students and always took care of their concerns with dedication.

We will never forget our colleague, partner, and friend Dr. Herwig Frei. He will always remain a part of our community!
